Uke-Song: leisure news -- "THREE BEARS IN OUR HOT-TUB", as sung by Frank Sinatra

PARODY-LYRICS

ORIGINAL SONG: "Three Coins in The Fountain", 1954, as performed by Frank Sinatra. The song was written by Jule Styne (melody) and Sammy Cahn (lyrics) for the romantic film "Three Coins in the Fountain". The film has a plot involving Rome's famous Trevi Fountain, with a man named Giorgio as one of the principal characters. The song received an Academy Award in 1955 for Best Original Song. Hear Sinatra croon the tune HERE.

PARODY COMPOSED: Giorgio Coniglio, 2017. To see the lyrics displayed more concisely without the chord-indications (and to return to "Daily Illustrated Nonsense"), click HERE.

INSPIRATION: A newsfeed story related that a California man found his outdoor jacuzzi invaded by a bear who had climbed over his fence; the animal drank a cocktail at tub-side, then left the property and fell asleep in a nearby tree. Similar tales are not uncommon in the Pacific Northwest. The current story of ursine home-invasion romance is considerably more elaborate than any single news report found online. And what could be better than to have Sinatra sing about it?

Uke-Song: "THE UNIQUENESS OF NUCLEAR", thanks again to Tom Lehrer

ORIGINAL SONG:  "The Elements", Tom Lehrer, 1959.

PARODY COMPOSED: Giorgio Coniglio, October 2013. This parody-song represents a follow-up to an earlier Lehrer-inspired patter-song (April 2013), reposted here in February of this year. Click HERE to review "NO ELEMENTS".

PARODY-LYRICS LINK: The lyrics for this song constituted one of Giorgio's  earliest submissions to the online parody-lyrics website at AmIRight.com. And, should you prefer, they are also more readily available as displayed (without the chord-indications) on our blogsite "Daily Illustrated Nonsense"; click HERE.

PARODY SONG-LINK: Please note that T.L.'s genius has provided inspiration for a handful of other parody patter-songs; these are summarized at the bottom of this post.

THE UNIQUENESS of "NUCLEAR"

(to the tune of "The Elements")

(Click on any chord-chart slide to move to 'song-presentation mode'; then navigate through thumbnails at bottom of page.)

Lehrer had adapted the melody from "The Major General's Song" from Gilbert and Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance". There are 3 somewhat different melodies/chord-sequences used in alteration through the GandS song, and in Lehrer's derived take-off.

My suggestion for the first 3 verses of the patter-list portion of this parody are shown here, but adapt them as you like! Incidentally, the Eb7 chord may look formidable to some - just use the barred version of D7 one fret higher, than slide back for the D7 that follows!

You crave more patter-songs in the style of Tom Lehrer???
T.L. inspired a significant platterful of songs related to our interest in grammatically paired words, including binomials and reduplications. And, you should have your foot in the door, having mastered the complexities of singing and playing our above offering "The Uniqueness of Nuclear" So, enjoy trying these as well !!!
1a. "Alliterative Binomials, part#1"
3.  "A Lesson about Reduplications" (not a patter-song)
5.  "No Elements", 3rd declension Latin nouns
6.  "The Uniqueness of Nuclear", Latin adjectival listing, scheduled for April 2024.

Uke-song,"Route 66" Revisited ...." X66X "

PARODY-LYRICS consisting of PALINDROMES
ORIGINAL SONG: "Route 66", written by Bobby Troup, 1946, performed by Nat King Cole, covered by Perry Como, Chuck Berry, Bing Crosby, Rolling Stones, The Manhattan Transfer, John Mayer etc.
PARODY COMPOSED: Giorgio Coniglio, March 2014.

Palindromes are highlighted here in green font and italicized (Warning! Some of these contain adult material). A tip of the hat to Weird Al Yankovic who invented the concept of singable palindromes with his spoof "Bob". See also my previously posted palindrome-song "Gnats Stang; Gnus Sung" , and various other posts highlighting palindromes.

John Mayer's rollicking version of the original song is found on YouTube HERE.

If you're the type not vexed by 'Joy of Lex',

Get your fix by fax or telex or Express.

The best letter is rated 'XX'.

It's boxed in the slot before 'Y',

Sly x-axis, it seldom rides high,

Best letter is rated 'XX'.

Now there's, No 'x' in Nixon

No 'xx' - Exxon

No 'x' Al, knit on; toot no tin klaxon

"Laid Fixes" - sex, if dial

Max. esteem meets exam

Sex-aware era waxes

Six axons, no x-axis.

Mix a maxim. No 'x' - a Saxon.
The Bible of word-play

Just flex to the nexus of this text,

Your next exit past Texas and New Mex,

Best letter is rated 'XX'.

The best jest is  "Xerox, O Rex."

Best letter is rated 'XX'.

Not 'UF', not on futon!

No 'yarn' in rayon

Un nu?  No! it's a bare-era bastion

Lapse - porno on ropes, pal

Llama - nix in a mall

Sex at my gym taxes

Six at my gym? Taxis!

Sod-lid dildos. Sex-elf flexes.

Get relaxed with the moxie of this text,

More exotic than Texas or New Mex,

The letter that ends "Joy of Lex".

That letter is rated 'XX'.

The best letter is rated 'XX'.

Puzzling palindrome, used in Weird Al's song "Bob"
